And with you by their side they can overcome any difficulties they are facing, able to flourish and grow into the person they are destined to be.
Parent Coaching is entirely bespoke. Every child is unique and every family is different. Working with a Collaborative and Proactive Solutions Approach (CPS) developed by Dr Ross Greene PHD, the world renowned Clinical Psychologist, you will learn how to align with your child and work with them to solve problems as a team.
Parenting a neurodiverse child often requires a different parenting approach. What may work for their neuro-‘average’ counterparts, probably won’t work for your neurodivergent child. Traditional techniques like Time out and Sticker Charts or punitive consequences to undesirable behaviour are counterproductive. After all, if behaviour is the sign of an unmet need or a communication of frustration or unhappiness, then punishing a child when they are communicating that something is wrong is surely counter-intuitive!
We work on the assumption that children do what they CAN DO. Tradition tells us that children do what they WANT to do, but we work on the principle that children do what they CAN do. So, by figuring out what they can’t do, by using well-regarded methodologies, we align you with your child to collaboratively solve these problems together.
We work towards understanding your child's profile, their skills and their gaps, and support your child with these highly regarded and powerful tools. Coupled with the principles of Peaceful Parenting developed by Dr Laura Markham, Columbia University, and my extensive knowledge of ADHD and Autism as a teacher, parent and coach with 33 years of experience, you have a world of knowledge and evidence-based resources to learn and grow from.
Parenting Neurodiversity can be a challenge. Working together, we create a contented connection between you and your child, reducing frustrations and increasing harmony. ADHD and Autistic profiles often present unique challenges such as:
But, of course, this is not a complete list. Presentations and behaviours evolve with the child and can catch even the most prepared parent off-guard.
